NP Evard is one of the best psychiatric professionals I have had in a 30 plus year history. His team and practice have gone above and beyond. I recommend them to anyone in need of caring professionals who really work hard for their patients.

I’ve been seeing Mr. Evard for OCD/anxiety for years now. I followed him here from his previous practice because he is the ONLY psychiatrist I’ve ever seen who I can tell truly cares about me as a patient and spends more than 2 minutes per appt. He always makes it a point to ask about my husband and baby, how i’m doing overall, trips we’re going on, etc. Some appointments run behind but this is why! You will never feel rushed talking to him. Very reasonable with med changes and goes the extra mile to explain the “how/why” of all meds/treatments. Will send evidence based studies/links when we make decisions about new meds/therapies. I’ve referred friends here as well. I would recommend him to anyone.

I've been with Mr.Evard for almost 4+ years. Since he was with another company. He opened his own practice and I followed him because he is the only one who openly listens and cares for his patients. I couldn't do it without him. He works with you with whatever you need. He gives support and reassurance. I cannot thank him enough for everything he has done for me. Also the ladies at the front desk are so sweet and very comforting. If your looking for help or guidance this is your place to be.

Sarah shrader is wonderful and actually makes you feel seen and heard and works with you, I know i can be a difficult patient with my extreme anxiety and she's help me so much

I would highly recommend this establishment, Ed Evard is the absolute best, he actually cares for his patients, he listens, even though he's not a therapist. I refuse to go anywhere else! Amelia is a great therapist, who works with you, listens to you and actually speaks, most therapist's I've talked to only listened, never said a word! She does meditative exercises that are very comforting!! Staff is very friendly!

I switched my psychiatry services from EVMS to Southeast. It was hard making the decision because you never know if you’ll be seen right away, what the office staff is like, and if the place you’re transferring to will even do a better job. I have to say I have been blown away by the level of customer service I’ve received from Southeast VA Psychiatry. I used to dread calling to request a refill from EVMS. Southeast often has sent my refill over before I even ask for it. They’re always personable and the front staff is helpful and kind. I see Sarah Shrader and have nothing but the highest praise for her as a provider. She’s accessible, helpful, follows up quickly, has a wealth of knowledge, and involves my input in my treatment. It’s so nice to finally feel like I’m being cared for. If you’re having doubts of switching providers, don’t have any hesitation about Southeast VA Psychiatry.

I have been searching for my “home” as far as a Psychiatry office goes for years. I had been with a Medical Practice for a few years but just didn’t feel that I was listened to or that I was a priority. From my very first visit with Sarah I was sold! She is like talking to someone you’ve known for years. She listens, offers suggestions and really makes sure your comfort is number 1 priority. I finally feel like I’m part of a team on my own mental Health Journey. The icing on the cake is Jackie. When it comes to scheduling questions, billing questions and/or anything in between she is prompt, so kind and extremely efficient. I have never visited a doctor’s office with this caliber of staff. I have referred everyone I can think of who would benefit from their care and treatment. I cannot thank them enough for showing the effort and compassion that they do towards their patients. I have finally found my “home”!

I have been a patient of Ed’s for years; I have followed him to a few different practices so that in itself speaks volumes. He shows a true interest in his patients, very kind and understanding. I’ve had treatment resistant depression for years and he has been patient and stuck with me throughout my mental health journey, and we have finally found the right combo. I would recommend him to ANYONE I KNOW. Also, Joleen is my therapist. First appointment with her was this evening, and it was a wonderful experience!

So I called today b/c I need an URGENT appointment (new patient too) and Jessica was overly super friendly and helpful and got me in within the week! — I can already see I’m going to love this office —. Might even just have to bake one of my famous pumpkin 🎃 rolls and bring to first’ appt. We shall see. Thanks again for Cotton courtesy and respect
