1. They are extremely difficult to get into contact with. There is no direct form of communication with your service provider and they will ignore your messages for days. 2. They don’t care about filling your prescriptions in a timely manner. I even messaged about getting a partial prescription fill because I was going to run out during an out of country trip and they completely ignored my request. 3. If you are pregnant, forget about receiving any treatment here since they are not educated in the field. Go see a reproductive psych doctor instead. - I was able to be prescribed ADHD meds during my first pregnancy through here with a lower dose and maternal fetal medicine approval but needed no letter or documentation for it, so not too much of a hassle in 2022. However, I just found out that I was pregnant and wanted to lower my medication dose and they made me run around in circles to try to find a clearance letter to take my medication during my pregnancy which most places don’t provide anyway. If nobody provides this why would hey even ask for it. It’s like needing a parents signature for a field trip. Honestly the stress of having to try to get this letter while also detoxing from being off my medication is probably worse for my pregnancy than being on the actual medication. Anyway. Please. Go somewhere else. I have been a patient here since 2018 and I’ve only stayed by default.

Just book the appointment. It doesn’t matter with who, they are all amazing. I’ve been a patient at this clinic since 2023, and I can’t say enough good things about the care I’ve received. Every provider I’ve seen has been kind, attentive, and genuinely invested in listening and helping—something that feels far too rare in healthcare, especially as a female patient. Appointments never feel rushed, communication is clear, and prescriptions or adjustments are handled efficiently. I’m someone who always fell through the cracks when it came to care. These doctors are the first to find things that helped. This clinic has changed my life.

They don't work from 1 to 2 everyday, that's what it says, so I go to do a urine sample at 12:40, cause that's the only time in my schedule I can make it work, this place is way out of my way, mind you this is the second time ive tried to do this and they were closed, it take five minutes. Anyway they say they close at one, but the only person in this whole clinic who can take my pee left at 12:30 cause they wanted to I guess, which is an hour and a half lunch. You have to go do this dumb urine sample and during lunch hours during the work week the best time someone would go to do this annoying little chore they're closed.

Horrible experience and my immediate concerns were not addressed and instead was told that we’re not going to focus on that. I was then charged over $300 with insurance!! without ever seeing a bill until about 2 months later i received an invoice for another $100. This is a shady business and in no way did i feel that i was listened to about my concerns. Don’t waste your time and money here

I went here because I thought I had ADHD. They gave me a 30 minute computer test and the Physician Assistant said I didn't have it. I took their word for it and they put me on SSRI's for over a year. None of them worked and they would just keep prescribing me SSRI after SSRI and they were all awful and did nothing for me. I finally went to a real psychologist 3 years later and not this fake clinic and was diagnosed with ADHD. Wasted 3 years of my life because of their incompetence.

Previously had rated this place 4 or 5 stars. Moved out of state in Jan 2025 having spent well over 12 years with SCA. I am so very grateful I didn't have to re-experience first hand WHY psychiatry isn't Walmart. The reviews don't surprise me. It just surprises me that it took this many months for the outrage to erupt. It's too bad because it used to be a well run place with patient loyalty and I presume a decent profit margin. That's clearly no longer the case. On the plus side a lot of private practices locally will be getting more clients as the well at SCA goes dry. What is it they say? ... "Play stupid games. Win stupid prizes"

After 6 years as a patient, I watched this clinic transform from a functional mental health practice into something unrecognizable. If you're considering Specialty Clinic of Austin, understand that what you're actually dealing with is TeleMed2U, a telehealth company that acquired this clinic in November 2020. The operational changes since then have made consistent mental health care nearly impossible. TeleMed2U purchased Specialty Clinic of Austin in late 2020 as part of their expansion into Texas mental health services. What used to be direct contact with the actual clinic became a centralized call center system managing hundreds of facilities simultaneously. You're no longer calling the clinic where your provider works. You're reaching someone working remotely who handles multiple clinics and has no connection to your care team or your history with the practice. Expect 40+ minute hold times as standard. The representatives are often rude enough but fundamentally unable to help because they're working from scripts and managing too many facilities. They'll redirect you to your insurance, your insurance will redirect you back, and the cycle continues. Mental health management requires continuity and communication. What I experienced instead was medication changes that seemed financially motivated rather than clinically sound. Dosages reduced without proper tapering. Difficulty getting prescription refills that were previously routine. The shift from collaborative mental health care to what feels like a prescription processing system. I'm not the only one experiencing this. Just read other reviews to see for yourself. Mental health care requires an actual therapeutic relationship. You won't find that here anymore. Look for providers who haven't been acquired by telehealth corporations, where you can actually reach your clinic directly, and where your care isn't managed by algorithms and call center metrics. There are better options in Austin. Use them.

My kids and I were patients of Dr Sweet. I loved the clinic and efficiency of the office! No problem getting appointments. You get one before you leave! If things come up, they do what they can. My boys are adults now and both preferred and returned to their home clinic. I see complaints here about minor things that seem to be self created. They are a team of great Doctors! People should be picking because of the quality of care and expertise not expecting them to jump through hoops. They are not a circus. I'm sure its not the clinics fault people run out of medicine or reschedule appointments. Things seem streamlined and policies are in place for your benefit. Follow instructions and you'll be just fine! I have always been able to count on their professionalism & capacity to stay steady and available. I appreciate their office.

EDITED IN RESPONSE TO THE CLINICS RESPONSE: Policies need to be reviewed immediately as the letter provided is not in compliance with recommendations for the FHA. I’m currently escalating the issue to have this further reviewed since my formal complaint was never addressed by Telemed2U Requested an ESA accommodation letter to submit to my residence for my ESA. In return, I received a VERY vague, non specific letter that was not accepted according to FHA. When I requested a more detailed letter mentioning specifics required by the FHA, the “medical director” denied my request. This is a PSYCHIATRIC clinic whom is managing my MENTAL ILLNESS; this should not be an issue for such a simple request given the circumstances. I’ll be taking further action as I have mentioned numerous times during my meetings how much of a support my animal is for my mental health and because of this “medical director” I’m unable to house my animal in my current residence, further more worsening my condition.

Ever since a new company has taken them over, it’s incredibly slow and bureaucratic. It’s Wednesday and I have been trying to get my child’s ADHD medication refilled since *Friday*. I just got off the phone with them for the third time today after being on hold forever, only to be told they will get to it when they get to it. This has been a pretty good place as far as staff goes but getting anything done ever since the new management came it is thumbs down.
